Frequently Asked Questions
You are called mountain mama massage. I’m not a mama. Can I still get a massage?
YES! We pride ourselves on creating a safe space for every client who comes to our table. We believe that all persons are created equal and welcome all genders, all gender-identities, all family formations, all sizes, all colors, all cultures, all beliefs, all religions, all ages --- all people.
While we are often known for our perinatal massage we continue to work with clients of all ages and genders through their lives and are grateful to be referred by our clients to their partners, grandparents, and friends.
As for our prenatal/postpartum care: We are called Mountain Mama Massage, but we welcome all birthing parents and their partners to receive prenatal and postnatal care whether you identify as mama, papa, zeze or any other special parent name!
If you feel that you have not been made to feel safe and welcome just as you are, please let us know so that we can make changes.
How are you handling the current pandemic?
We are proceeding with lots of care and caution! If you haven’t yet, please take a moment to read about the precautions we are taking to keep our clients, ourselves, and our community safe.
How do I pay? Am I charged when I schedule the session?
When you book online your credit card reserves your session, but is not charged. This allows us to offer contactless payment. All payments are made at the time of the actual session. See all session rates. We accept cash, check, credit, debit, HSA, and FSA cards.
For Health Savings Accounts and Flexible Spending Accounts, please look into the details of your individual plan to see whether massage therapy is covered and if you need further documentation (such as a prescription for massage therapy from your primary care provider).
To honor clients who are coming in often, we offer discounts on packages of three massage therapy sessions. Packages are non-refundable, must be used within one year, may be shared with a spouse, can be used with any massage therapist or location at Mountain Mama Massage, and cannot be used for in home sessions.
Session rates increase by $5 every year on January 1st. The next rate increase will be in effect for all sessions scheduled after January 1, 2024.
Do you have a Cancellation Policy?
Cancellation or change of appointments must be made 48 hours before appointments with the exception of illness or birth. If the cancellation is made with less than 48 hours notice, the client will be charged half the rate of the appointment. This is not meant as a penalty. It recognizes the time we hold for you. When you cancel your appointment at the last minute we cannot offer that healing time to another client. If you do not show up or call to cancel an appointment you will be charged the full appointment price. Read all policies here.
Birth: The exception to this rule is the arrival of your baby! If your baby arrives before your appointment please simply let us know - there will be no charge for canceling with less than 48 hours.
COVID-19 or other illness: Another exception is experiencing and fever or symptoms of COVID-19 or other illness, or exposure to someone who has or is being tested for infection with COVID-19. There is no charge for canceling with less than 48 hours due to illness or exposure. Staying home is the best way for us all to stay healthy.
Can I buy a gift certificate?
YES! Gift certificates are available for new and returning clients for any dollar amount or session length. You can purchase immediately printable gifts for yourself or others online in the secure online shop or call/text/email us with your inquiry and we’ll get back to you within 48 business hours. Gift certificates may be redeemed with any massage therapist and any location at Mountain Mama Massage.
How do I schedule a session (massage, yoga, virtual etc)?
All sessions are by appointment only. Our secure online scheduling calendar will show you all available days and times for in-office sessions. The online calendar is open 8 weeks in advance of today’s date.
At times, the calendar does get busy. If you have a particular time in mind, we recommend scheduling 2-4 weeks in advance for best availability.
If you don’t see what you need we highly recommend you add yourself to our waitlist. Plans change and we often have appointments open at the last minute due to illness or birth. If you are flexible with timing and want to be on our waitlist you can email hello@mountainmamamassage.com with the session you want to schedule, any location/therapist preferences, your available times and the best phone number on which to text you. If a session becomes available we will contact you to confirm availability.
Pregnant clients are welcome to schedule from first trimester through 41 weeks. Please add us to your “contact in labor” list for any session scheduled after 37 weeks so that we are notified that you are in labor and will not be at your session.
We recommend scheduling postpartum massage both in-home or in the office while you are still pregnant. (I know. Hard to imagine life beyond labor.) Our general recommendation is to schedule a session for 2-3 weeks after your estimated due date and then to be in touch to adjust as needed.
